[Hey do you know what's good for waking people up early in the morning, from a military standpoint? Besides the sound of gunfire and alarms. Cold showers! So just...gonna...maneuver her into the shower and lay her gently against the wall and then there's gonna be a rude af blast of cold water.

[And this time she blinks! Not startled or upset the way she should be but slow and lethargic. She lifts one hand to fend off the water but her reaction time is miserable. Leonard knows damn well that she's not one to sleep anywhere near this heavily.

But she's at least more vaguely aware than she has been so far?]

[She keeps TIME, she's AWAKE before ANY of them usually. Nari's being--Nari's being upset and the opposite of how Nari usually is, so he's got to do something and he doesn't have the medical experience to know what to do if someone's ODing on something. Because that's exactly what he's afraid of.

He ducks into the shower, blocking most of the flow and takes her face in his hands.]

Q, you gotta talk to me, you have to tell me what you took, what's going on, please, please, just stay awake and talk to me.

Cap'n?

[Soft and slurred more than her usual accent but it's there. Her eyes are still mostly unfocused but she's blinking again, brow furrowing as she tries to concentrate, to figure out what's going on.]

Where...? 's happenin?

[Okay that's enough of the shower. He'll even get some fluffy fluffy towels to wrap around her.]

You're still in Kip's room, Q, it's fine, you're just having a really hard time waking up right now, and I need--Nari should just be in the other room, but if you can remember anything you took--

[Hold on:] NARI get the FUCK in here and have a breakdown later!

[She shakes her head, clenches her eyes closed and groans as the world spins.]

Take? I didn-

[And then adrenaline does a number on this waking up thing. She jolts upright, eyes wide as she grabs Leonard's shirt.]

Tani? Where's Tani?! Should be here...

[Church don't let her get up. She's gonna try but she's just gonna hurt herself.]

[She didn't. Oh god. Then maybe Nishitani--

He tries to hold her down, which honestly is in no way going to be hard in her condition, and toweling her down.]

He's not here, just--what do you remember? You have to tell me what you remember last.

He... He went ta his room? [She frowns, raises a hand to her head, trying to think through how much her head hurts.]

I was waitin... he had to... get something? [But if that's all then why is she so scared right now?]

Everythin's real fuzzy Leonard... I don't... Where is he?

Did you hit your head on anything? Did you drink anything, eat anything? [Mmmmmm look who's avoiding the ultimate question there.]

No. I didn'-

[Nope, she's fighting you now Church. Let her up.]

Where's Tani? [Shit everything's wet and she's so weak and kinda dizzy. Standing is so hard to accomplish.]

[Especially when he's got the leverage and strength to keep her down.]

Queenie listen to me. He's--he's...he's in the rest area on the ground floor.

[And this is the worst part. He can't keep dancing around it.] He's gone. There was an announcement.

What do you mean he's g-

[Outrage that gives way to fear and sorrow before she can even get the sentence out. For a moment she just stares at him, horrified and afraid.]

N-no... no he was supposed to be with me. He was- We-

no... [barely more than a whimper and then she's collapsing into him, clutching at his shirt. Before she has a chance to really start outright sobbing though she starts to slip, her grip going slack as the unnatural exhaustion tries to drag her under again.]

[He doesn't know what it is, and even if he knew what it was--what if it's magical, what if it's an internal injury, what if it's oxy or another painkiller or there's so much stuff in the medbay and who knows what kind of stuff came out of the dumbwaiters, even if he knew what it was he doesn't really know how to treat it, what if he does something wrong, and Nari's not--

He doesn't try to wake her this time, just hums a tune to himself and keeps rubbing her as dry as he can with the towels, trying to comfort even if she's slipping away. Gathers her back up in his arms, tucks her back into bed. Gets started looking around Kip's room.

And sits with her, after, holding her hand. Until the trial, he's not leaving this room.]

[There's a fairly significant amount of time between when he settles her back into bed and when the trial will happen. And in that time her sleep gradually begins to shift from unnerving to something more natural.

It's probably a solid hour later but enough before the trial that he's not going to have to carry her that she begins to wake up on her own. A big stretch, the satisfied sigh of someone that has had a very restful sleep. She snuggles in against him without realizing she's doing it, breathes in deeply and then blinks up at him.]

Leonard? What are you doing here? [All smiles and curiosity and... was she that out of it earlier? Does she remember anything? Probably.... not...

She's perfectly coherent this time though?!]

...Q? [She's not dying. She's not dead. Whatever the fuck it was wore off and he's definitely gathering her up in a big big bear hug.] Queenie, jesus fucking christ--

[She actually laughs, giggling softly at this particular wake up, squeezing him back and dropping a kiss on his cheek.]

What's gotten into you this morning?

Don't--don't you remember?

[She tilts her head, curious, and then scoots over to settle in Leonard's lap because clearly that's where she belongs.]

Remember what, sweetie?

[Though she does glance around once she's settled.]

Gosh what time is it?

We couldn't wake you up. You were--barely coherent. I threw you in the shower trying to wake you up. I thought you'd taken something like-- [Rhys. Angel.]

[She just looks confused, flabbergasted even. What does she say to that.]

In the shower? I-

[One hand goes up to her hair and sure enough those curls do not dry that fast.]

No... I don't remember that at all. [She shakes her head, leans in to kiss him softly.] I wouldn' leave ya like that, cap'n...

But... what happened?

[It's okay, he's still pretty damn damp too, because who cares about drying off when you're pretty sure you're watching someone you care about drift off to death, haha.]

I don't know. I was going to--Nari was yelling and smacking you and trying to wake you up, so I came in to try and help. I was scared, Q.

You really don't--you don't remem--

Do you remember what happened last night? [Let's try this again, maybe there are details she'll be able to know now.]

[She lifts a hand to her own face, feeling her cheek and flinching a little when she finds it's tender.]

I'm sorry. I don't understand... but I'm so sorry honey. Shhh I'm okay, I'm fine I-

[She takes a breath, bites her lip. Opens her mouth, closes it.]

I...it's not clear? I must've fallen asleep waiting for Tani to get back?

Silly. [At least this time there's no immediate panic at the mention of her fella?]

You were worried about him. At least it sounded like-- Something's happened, and I think you took something, or...I don't know, it's worn off now. Made you forget, maybe? I don't...I don't know how to help.

Something to make me forget?

[She shakes her head again.] I don't know... is there something that could do that?

Worried... Where is he anyway? Did he honestly manage to sneak out of here without waking me up? [Because surely he came to bed after she'd fallen asleep? Clearly. Where else would he have spent the night?]

[It was bad enough the first time. He puts a hand in her damp hair, and it's harder the second time around.]
