week 7

[For the first time in several weeks there is no new memorial in the garden. No new body in the morgue, no bloody mess for the roombas to clean. Choromatsu is still in need of time to heal and constant vigilance but he's alive. They're all alive for once on a Sunday and, even with the terrible realizations their returning memories may bring, there's a sense of hope for the first time in a long time.

There is no new floor this week.

No, no, he's quite alright. He'll be difficult to find, though.

The question you should be asking is 'what is he doing at this very moment'?

I can't imagine the mischief someone that age might cause if they found themselves able to turn invisible.

[ ohhh my god. Yuuri just gives him the most exasperated, dead eyed look imaginable. ]

He's going to sneak up on the wrong person and get himself punched. I know it.

Nari or maybe Church. Either way, if he makes it through the rest of the day without getting a right hook to the jaw I'll make sure to personally congratulate him.

... Assuming he hasn't gotten himself into any other trouble.

I think that we both know very well he'll manage it one way or another, dear Yuuri.

You know, sometimes I wonder if he thought I was joking when I said they should've called him "Champion Troublemaker". I wasn't.

So, you float, Junpei's invisible... let me guess: something happened to Church as well?

[ Seems to make sense that the entire set would be equipped for trouble today. ]

Church is moving at approximately several thousand miles an hour as though he drank every last bit of coffee in the kitchen.

Please tell me he's got enough control over it to keep himself from bouncing off every wall in the mansion.

It was my fondest hope you would reach that conclusion without me having to say it.

I was about to say "of all the people to give these kinds of powers" but I'm fairly sure they knew exactly what they were doing and who they were picking.

Is it just the three of you so far?

Clarith seems to be teleporting, but apart from that group and myself I've not yet seen anything unusual.

[teleporting's not all that weird, anyway]

You know... after Tuesday, I'm surprised they'd give us something so... light-hearted?

I'm sure it was a bit startling for everyone at first but nothing about this is really all that scary or even concerning.

It almost seems a distraction, doesn't it? I fail to understand why, but I also don't wish to question it if it takes the others' minds off of all this.

[serrata]

[ ... She nods. ]

Right now, a distraction is probably exactly what everyone needs. I don't think another party or meeting or whatever is going to do much but maybe something like this...

[ she sighs and shrugs ]

I don't know. I don't know what to expect from any of this anymore.

I doubt PAL would put forth a strategy this extreme unless he was running out of ideas or growing desperate. We merely have to keep ourselves in order a bit longer and stay together.

[serrata]

... right.

[ she manages a smile -- a small one but it's still a smile. ]

It's just a matter of sticking together and beating him at his own game. If we've come this far then there's no reason to believe we can't make it to the end.

After we've managed for this long, we're going to be fine. I did not suffer through seven weeks with Church as a roommate just to die now.
