[For the first time in several weeks there is no new memorial in the garden. No new body in the morgue, no bloody mess for the roombas to clean. Choromatsu is still in need of time to heal and constant vigilance but he's alive. They're all alive for once on a Sunday and, even with the terrible realizations their returning memories may bring, there's a sense of hope for the first time in a long time.

There is no new floor this week.

[Drawings! There's a series of abstract shapes, a stylized tree that looks more like a mushroom and has been scribbled out, various flowers, what looks like Yuuri and Clarith's tattoos drawn from memory (surprisingly well)...]

I was simply... considering things.

[Ah. The corner of his mouth quirks a little, and then he lets out a little huff of a laugh.]

You're thinking about a tattoo, too, huh?

...for a while now, yes.

[She's kind of embarrassed now.]

Same. Sort of. I, uh, I guess I've been too chicken to put serious thought into it until now.

[He gives the paper back to her and looks at the rest.]

You going for a certain theme?

[She lets him see. Stuff's mostly along similar lines. There are a few drawings of an arm, etc. with one of the designs on them. At one point she lapsed into doodling--Junpei might recognize some tiny Champions in there.]

I keep doubting my ideas.

[Oh no. Tiny Champions are cute.]

What do you mean? ...That doesn't seem like you.

[Especially when tiny Clarith is surrounded by hearts. (Actually, at this level of non-detail, that's really the only way you can tell she's a tiny Clarith and not a tiny Mai.)]

I know, but... this is permanent, so it has to be correct the first time. I cannot change my mind later.

[He considers that, then nods and turns so he can face her more properly, leaning against the counter.]

What do you want it to say?

No no no, I mean what do you want it to mean. To you, to people who look at it.

[Okay yeah she can handle that a bit better.]

I meant for it to indicate that I intend to truly become a Champion Sovereign. That I will always stand for justice, and act as a light to those who are trapped in darkness.

I don't think so. I mean, hey, remember those bookmarks Yuuri made for us this week? If a couple flowers can say all that, I'm sure we can come up with an image that'll convey exactly that for you.

[He spreads her papers out, looking from one sketch to the next.]

Let's see... the key ideas are Sovereign, justice, and light, right? A beacon for us all. Which of these pictures make you think of those three things?

[Of course she remembers the bookmarks they're awesome and she still has to thank Rii-san for it.]

That was my consideration with the royal crest of Caledonia. [Oh, so that's what that abstract stuff is.] But I do not believe it holds that meaning for any other than myself.

Well, it's your body. You're the one who's gonna see it more than anyone else, right? As long as it reminds you to be the person who bears that crest, I think that'll shine through to everyone else.

[He looks at all the flowers in the pictures, though, and adds:]

We could also ask Yuuri if there's a flower or two that would mean those things. Justice, benevolent rule... and hope. Right?

[She gets what he's saying, but she still has her doubts, since she knows anything she puts on her body will be seen as a message others are supposed to understand.

At least, she does until that one proper noun comes in.]

Oh! Of course! She will have a perfect suggestion.

[Why didn't she think of that? Really she could have just skipped the brainstorming and asked Yuuri for ideas in the first place.]

[Yeah, Yuuri's the best.]

Whatever she comes up with, maybe you could arrange it to kind of look like your royal crest. Two birds, one stone.

Just the sort of solution I would have expected from a detective.

[Sir Canaan seems offended by that expression, though, cooing his disapproval.]
