week 6
[Even with three deaths two weeks in a row, life in the Fantasy Sweet returns to some semblance of normalcy come Sunday morning. The messes are cleaned up, the bodies are safe in the morgue (or in Kip's case, still in a liquor bottle in the garden) and with this new week comes a fresh crop of returning memories.

[ He flips the page. Ah look, first day of high school. They're all wearing their uniforms and looking very presentable. They're not quite so identical right now, mostly because hitting puberty all at the exact same time is right where I draw the line at this silly nonsensical sextuplet bullshit so they're all various heights for once. Other little differences are popping up too: one boy seems to be growing some thicker eyebrows than the others, another is starting to look a lot more glum and... well Jyushimatsu is being Jyushimatsu and having the exact same dumb face he had as a baby. Most of them are keeping to themselves for the picture but two boys are being really buddy buddy, the taller one that hit his growth spurt first with his arm on the other's shoulders.
Choromatsu stops and points to the shorter one in this pair. ]

[ ...which someone might not have guessed right away on their own because compared to the more "mature and put together" way that Choromatsu tries to present himself in the Fantasy Sweet? This young teenage Choromatsu looks like a smug little shit. ]

I guess it is a surprise, huh? Truthfully, I used to be a little brat. Osomatsu-niisan and I used to be reeeal troublemakers. We'd always get into all sorts of mischief together. Or beat other kids up. [ Mostly just Chibita.
He waves his hand dismissively. ] Ahh, but I started to grow out of it during high school. Around when they start talking to you about your future, you know?
[ He turns the page absentmindedly then. It's first day of second year now. Eyebrows boy is looking more intense like he wants to be cool, glum boy's hair is a mess and he's slouching more, another boy has started trying out cuter poses and little fashion alterations to his uniform. Jyushimatsu is still Jyushimatsu. Choromatsu finds himself again and points: this time he's keeping to himself and is placed more in the middle of the group, inbetween eyebrows and messy hair. And like he said there's definitely a bit of a change. For one, he's standing straight and his hair is much tidier than the others, but he also looks a little more humbled too. ]

[He was never a bad kid, and he got good enough grades and kind of coasted through life. But he's never been a good kid, either. Never known how to keep his smart mouth from getting him into trouble.]
I mean, I guess I stopped getting into fights after middle school, but it was more that people didn't really know what to do with me...

[ He flips the page again. Third year. They're all pretty close to what they've become as adults now; only one of them looks the same way he did as a child. Choromatsu himself is all the way on the right side of the picture, at the end of the group. ]
Akatsuka-sensei had already passed away before we started high school. Maybe that was part of it. I just know I wanted to meet everyone's expectations for me. Be a person they could be proud of. Be Choromatsu - not just "one of those Matsuno sextuplets".

We keep a picture of him in the house and pay our respects but it's like you would when a family member passes. Things did get kinda weird when we came back on the air but... other than that not much changed, really.
