[Even with three deaths two weeks in a row, life in the Fantasy Sweet returns to some semblance of normalcy come Sunday morning. The messes are cleaned up, the bodies are safe in the morgue (or in Kip's case, still in a liquor bottle in the garden) and with this new week comes a fresh crop of returning memories.

There is no new floor this week.

[Arianna smiles at that first bit.]

Why, thank you, Dame Queenie.

[But as the reading goes on, she starts to look more serious. She watches the cards intently, as if expecting one of them to have specific written instructions or something. At "staying the same will never make it better," in particular, she just barely mouths a word, something that starts with an F if the slight puff of air at the beginning is any indication.

At the end, she repeats herself...]

Thank you, Dame Queenie.

[This time, though, she's not responding to a compliment.]

[She bites her lip for a moment, reaching out to take Arianna's hand in hers.]

I am fine. I simply... I have much to consider.

[Her fingers curl around Queenie's.]

I know... it can be kinda overwhelming sometimes, especially the first time you get a good reading.

[A squeeze of her hand and Queenie laughs.]

Not that... I'm insisting mine are very good but generally when people go quiet like that it... means I got something right.

You did considerably more than get "something" right.

Dame Queenie. Do you believe there are things that can be created but never destroyed?

Of course there are, sweetie. Or things that require such monumentally exact circumstances that they may as well be indestructible.

Please. In this case the distinction is critical.

There are plenty of things that cannot be destroyed, feelings, memories, the spirit, ghosts... as for tangible material things?

There's always something that can destroy it.

[daughterofthemark]

That is what I believe as well.

[She takes a deep breath.]

Dame Queenie, I am considering an extremely irresponsible course of action.

Arianna... [Soft but warning.]

What do you mean?

The man whom I doomed to become a living seal against a creature of great evil... perhaps he can still be retrieved, if we can defeat that creature.

[goteachother]

It sounds like that would make sense. If the seal no longer needs to be there you could undo it. Rather than breaking it.

I'm sure you can do it, Arianna.

[daughterofthemark]

There must be a way to destroy the Calamity. We need only discover it.

--Which is a feat that generations before us could not accomplish, but perhaps...

There's always a way... just try lookin at it from another perspective. Especially if yer family's been going at it for so long maybe you need some outside input?
