week 6
[Even with three deaths two weeks in a row, life in the Fantasy Sweet returns to some semblance of normalcy come Sunday morning. The messes are cleaned up, the bodies are safe in the morgue (or in Kip's case, still in a liquor bottle in the garden) and with this new week comes a fresh crop of returning memories.
There is no new floor this week.
Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
[ooc: Don't forget to to turn in your activity for week 5, submit your memory regains and put in your threads for the Benefactors!]

But we can try it and see?

[He takes a seat, though, and as he rubs his chin, it looks like he's taking more of an academic interest in the affair.]
I gotta admit, I'm kind of more interested in the, uh, official process... I just kind of made shit up with playing cards for Ardyn yesterday.

I can go over the whole process with you instead of just... kinda summarizing what everything means if you want?

And that's when you start the spread. [She goes quiet for a long moment, shuffling the cards and there's nothing visibly apparent about what she's doing. Maybe, with his abilities, he could feel an echo of what she's talking about but there's nothing to see. Until she shivers slightly as she jogs the deck and just nods to herself, pulling the top card and laying it down, face up.]
In any spread the first card is called the significator. It represents the person you're reading for. Who they are, what they're feeling, their current situation.
The Knave of Swords... mmm this part is hard to just explain. Some cards come with booklets and things like that, they explain what all the card meanings are. I had to memorize these for class back in fifth year. He means Inspiration. Fleeting ideas, capricious and mercurial. Intellectual but without grounding and an instability of purpose.
no subject
Uh, so... that's me in this situation, huh...? That. That makes sense, I guess.
[Without grounding, an instability of purpose. He can't help but think of a twelve-year-old girl who needed saving, of the machinations of both revenge and rescue. Can't help thinking about what he remembered two mornings ago--about the lengths he went to just to see her again.
Akane's been his driving force for so long, even in this kind of all-too-familiar situation, even with such clear goals, he's found himself unsure what he wants. To get out, obviously, with as many of them alive as possible. But beyond that? Returning to a life on the outside doesn't feel real.
He shakes his head and runs a hand back through his hair.]
Swords. Heh, that's interesting.
no subject
Mmm I expect a lot of swords with you. As a suit swords represent the mind, kinda like Horned Serpent. Disks, sometimes they're called coins, represent the material world, finances but also mundane things. They'd be the body, Wampus House. Cups are the suit of the heart, they stand for emotions.Like me, Pukwudgie. And Wands are the spirit, health and vitality. Thunderbird... like my sister
[Then she continues laying the cards in the pattern, laying everything out and setting the deck aside.]
You always do the first card face up, something to consider as you lay the rest of the spread, whether that be three more cards or nine, like this one. This is called the Celtic Cross. It's not the simplest spread but it is a rather universal spread and it covers a lot.
The second card, here, lays across the significator because this is the thing crossing you, the immediate obstacle in your path. [And then she finally turns the card over.] The Queen of Disks... Often when it's a court card it may actually represent a specific person. Heart's spread for example I'm... pretty sure it was meant to be his creator. The Queen of Disks a woman and, like I said, disks are the material world. She represents the desire to break of the mundane. The fruition of creative ideas, fertility and ambition.

Akane.
He shakes himself and swallows, looking away for a second, covering his mouth with one hand. Clears his throat.]
That's... that's most likely a person. Yeah. ...Really only one person it could be.
[Creativity, fertility, ambition--breaking right through the mundane. Unfathomable violet eyes. Fuck him up.]
She's... holding me back? I mean, the card, it doesn't represent something I'm trying to pursue and, and haven't been able to reach?
no subject
She's definitely the obstacle blocking you from moving forward. Maybe... going after her so determinedly means you've been neglecting other things? That's a possibility but I can't say for sure. Ummm
[She turns the third card over, the one at the bottom of the cross.]
This is the root of the problem, where the conflict is coming from 's why it's at the base of the cross... oh-
Ah... Knave of wands... this could be someone else or maybe... who you're trying to be for the Queen of Disks? He's a warrior. Passionate but naive, volatile and indecisive.
Driven by emotion instead of intellect, it makes his judgement questionable.

[His alarm is rapidly giving way to something like guilt. Shame, more likely. Something complicated and unpleasant, like only noticing some ugly growth on his skin after someone else points it out, but deeper and more personal.
Maybe Akane started it. But everything he's done since the Nonary Game--that's all on him. She didn't ask him to blackmail his way into Dcom.
He rubs his arm, uncomfortable, but not fighting the truth of it.]
That's what I've always been for her.
[So he's definitely not talking about Yuuri.]
no subject
It's hard, acknowledging these things. A lot of times a tarot read is less about telling people what the future holds and opening their eyes to what's in their present.
[So... next card flip.]
The left of the significator is the past, the right is the future. This is specifically past influences that are effecting your response to the obstacle before you.
[And she sucks in a breath because... okay Major Arcana time.]
The Lovers... Major Arcana cards tend to be more powerful and hold more significance than the lesser cards. Honestly, in conjunction with what we already have, who you are and who you were trying to be for your Queen of Disks? It seems like this was... the flaw in your past thinking. The Lovers don't just represent a romantic relationship it's more than that. They're also a reminder to look at your choices, to reflect inward and decide what it is you truly want, to accept what you feel in your heart to be true, not just what your head tells you you want.
And I think, maybe, you didn't do that in the past. It wasn't about what you wanted, who you are... but what she wanted you to be.
no subject
I don't know.
[He laces his fingers tightly together, flesh twined with metal, holding himself still. Wasn't his problem, back then, that he only moved with what his heart told him was true? Wasn't it his head that realized later how incredibly messed up it was? Did Junpei Tenmyouji, the man he is now, even exist before he met Akane Kurashiki?]
What I wanted, what she did... I don't--don't know that I can pull that apart so easily. We... that's how we were. Hard to tell where I ended and she began.
