mock after party!

[ WELL THAT SURE WAS EXCITING, WASN'T IT. Barney is entirely too normal for any of this shit and he pretty much lacks the, uh, emotional gumption to really process it in a healthy way so instead how 'bout some denial?

Seeing as how he was the first to run out, Barney somehow finds plenty of time (and paper?) to write up a sign in the living area that says:
What: A Party
Where: Holo Deck!
Who: YOU! (Duh.)
I don't have to tell you to suit up, so just. If you don't wanna be alone maybe stop by? Please? Just. OK?
It's gonna be legendary!
[ Upon arrival to the holo deck, you will find an ooc-ly familiar setup. The holopgraphic projections have been set up like a strip club: indistinct music, dimmed lights, catwalk, cheap booze and cheap seats all around. This is escapism at its finest, and doesn't everyone need a little escapism in their lives after that mess?

Feel free to grab a seat and enjoy the show, or maybe have a fake drink and try not to cry too much. Either way, there's probably plenty of reactions to be had in here, so why a strip club? Why not?

Of course, if the strip club isn't for you, you can always reprogram the room to your fancy, Barney will only be a little put out. Truth is he just wants to forget this whole day happened, thanks.

[You know what, Barney can keep his strip club. Most of the other Champions can probably do worse than just reprogramming it away would.]

[The Doctor's just going to alter the scenario a little, materializing a brightly lit door at the back of the club.]

[Anyone that decides to follow him through, or just wanders through on their own, will find a city street busy with holographic people. The Doctor's just sitting quietly on a bench, brooding watching.]
have_a_heart: Kanade in the shadows. (your enemy by default)

[Kanade steps through the door and looks around.]

This is more in line with rules about propriety. Though the space station does not seem to have any.

There's a lot of things this station doesn't have.

[Especially now that one of them's taken the Overseer's bait. The first crack in what might've been an armor of sort-of-united resistance.]

How're you holding up?

[You know, for a slightly emotionless totally-a-regular-girl-and-definitely-not-an-angel.]
have_a_heart: Kanade dodging and attacking. (instant reflex)

I do not know. I am used to enforcing the rules. Here, the rules only invite death.

Me, I'm used to breakin' the rules. Usually makes things more interesting.
have_a_heart: Mulling something over. (what's the big deal)

[personal profile] have_a_heart 2017-01-17 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I do not understand. Are your rules like these?

[help i am 12 and what is this Shadow is a little...yeah. He's not sure what to do with a strip club. He's considering doing his own bit of holo-fiddling, but, yeah, no? No, too many eyes, too...personal a place for it.

There's a door, bright, obvious, and that intrigues him. It's somewhere to go that's out, and out it certainly goes--big city street--Westopolis? Central City? Station Square?--and so many people.

It's momentarily a new version of overwhelming, even if these people aren't real. It takes longer than he'd like to see and recognize the Doctor, and at last he relaxes enough to...wonder if he should approach.

At least he's clean.]

Am I intruding?

[He's the only one wearing the station-issued unitard, if it helps.]

Nah, it's fine.

[Nine sits silently for a moment or two more, watching people pass, before speaking again.]

Seven and a half million people, in this city. And they're alive because of her. It wasn't fair, or right, any of it, but what she did saved over seven million people.
damnfourthemerald: (yet not alone and I'm alive)

[personal profile] damnfourthemerald 2017-01-16 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
So you believe that these captors had the power to kill them all. [He doesn't take a seat but stands by the Doctor, watching the not-actually-alive people roam. None of them react to him, and it's kind of nice.]

What if everyone had done the 'right' thing and refrained from killing, only to find out these seven and a half million were dead? This whole...game, it's just balancing probabilities, measuring the what if's.

I think we can't afford to assume these people are bluffing.

[Even if everything else were a lie, the Overseers were ready to let McCree die. This might be a game to them, but it was a game with lethal stakes.]

That's what they want it to be. I dunno if they want us to stop caring, or find what it takes to get someone to kill another, or what, but if we want to win we'll have to find a way of redefining the game, on our own terms.
misplacedxsheath: (Uzuki's swimsut was in my room?)

[After spending a while brooding in his own are, Margulis decides to check the other door. Something about the architecture seems familiar, and it distracts him enough that it takes him a moment to notice the Doctor among the holograms.]

This architecture...is this Lost Jerusalem?

[personal profile] stitch_in_time 2017-01-17 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Earth, Great Britain, London, circa 2005 CE. Though I'm gonna take a guess and say that yeah, that's the same thing as your Lost Jerusalem, more or less.
misplacedxsheath: (Hmmm...I'll consider it.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2017-01-17 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
That is the ancient name of Lost Jerusalem, yes. Very few know that detail, but humanity's origins are of particular interest to me.
