week 1
[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.
Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]
[ooc: welcome to week 1, everyone! This first week is a peace week which means there will be no murder this weekend! Feel free to start submitting threads for the benefactors]
Kitchen
U-Um... Sir Junpei, what... Are you taking those for...?

[He stops in his tracks and looks back at her almost guiltily, then shows her the stolen scissors even though she's already seen him take them, as if to prove honest intention.]
They're... for my notes. My paper ones, I mean. I'm... kind of a visual thinker.
no subject
[ She thought you'd like to know. ]
no subject
[Yes, he definitely would like to know!]
How much of a difference is there? Is it--are there holes in what she remembers, or, or is it more like you're a step ahead?
no subject
[ Body language is probably sending warning signs about that incident, closing herself off. There's definitely something there. ]
She, um... She helped me pay the land fees. S-So I wouldn't have to... Work extra... But she c-can't remember that.

There is so much to address here, Jesus. For all that he's the Champion Challenger, Junpei manages to hold his tongue long enough to get his volume under control. Clarith's making it very clear she's skirting some emotionally fraught territory here, and he won't get anywhere by scaring her.
So, keeping his voice moderately gentle:]
Is there... any reason you can think of that would make... I don't know. Does it put either of you at a disadvantage, her not remembering that? Or make it easier for our "overseers" to achieve their stated goals?
no subject
[ Though that explains a lot, honestly. Like how Mikaela tired easily, and how little she actually knew. ]
no subject
[He says that mostly to himself. Of course, though, that's the weakest kind of explanation and the least helpful. Better to assume a purpose to everything until they know more.]
So I... I guess it affects your relationship, right? Having different memories, and, uh. Learning about things through the profiles.
no subject
[ ...She's hopeful, at least. Mikaela is an odd subject, Junpei. ]
no subject
And she doesn't realize she's answered Junpei's original question. Does it make it easier for the Overseers to reach their goals? If their object really is to see how bonds and loyalty develop in high-stress environments, looks like they've got one project to watch already.
He's not sure he can share that thought with an expression like that, though. Geez, Clarith...]
That'd be nice. Wouldn't it? Being able to know each other better.
no subject
But she's feeling a bit more comfortable, at least. ]
Y-Yeah. It would. I'm... Not that interesting, but Mikaela...
no subject
I haven't spoken to her much. What's she like?
no subject
[ No Junpei don't get her to start gushing it will never end. ]

[It was totally to be with Clarith, right? This sounds like some kind of fairy tale.]
no subject
[ ...Half right, it's more she used the Real Reason she was incarnated as a human as an excuse to be with Clarith. Not that Clarith knows. ]
no subject
[Love is bunk, but. This... this is sweet.]
no subject
...I hope so. I really do. I... Worry that she might just pity me... O-Or be trying to look better to everyone else. I'm... Not someone most people want anything to do with.
no subject
[Junpei continues not to be the most sensitive of souls, but he tries to keep his voice on the gentle side all the same.]
Clarith, others here have probably asked you about this already, but... why do you say that? You're quiet, sure, but, I mean, if everyone on the planet were as polite and generous as you, we'd probably end both war and world hunger in five years.
no subject
[ She's doing better here, but she's a lot more bitter than she's letting on. She's just meek around other people. A people pleaser. ]
no subject
[ネツマ. 熱魔...?]
That sounds like Japanese. But your name and the places you live--those are in a more European-style language, aren't they? So, being a Netsuma... does it mark you as foreign in some way?
no subject
[ One of her ancestors was around in EC 100. ]
no subject
[Sixteen years ago, he met a girl they called strange and scary...]
It's no excuse for what it sounds like they put you through. But it's got nothing to do with anything you did. [His arms are folded across his chest.] It's humanity's ugly truth. Not yours.
