Week 1

[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.

Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.

There's plenty! I thought... well, if they're going to give us all this food, why not use it?

[ There's so many desserts, Mai. So many. ]

You can take whatever you'd like! That's what it's all there for.

[She takes a cupcake and looks it over.]

Some people made breakfast. Did you have any?

I did! Takumi-san was nice enough to share his rice and miso with everyone, which was a nice surprise. It's been a while since I've had miso for breakfast -- well, real miso. Instant just isn't the same, somehow.

Thank you. [nom.] He's good at it. I thought a prince wouldn't know how.

[serrata]

That's right, you'd think he'd have people to do that sort of thing for him. But if you're going to be leading a country then you probably need to be a little bit more self-sufficient than that...

[ please never assume that Takumi is the heir in his presence, Yuuri, down that path sadness lies ]

You would? ...Maybe. Though politics and soup are different.

[serrata]

But they can both get messy if you're not careful enough with them. Maybe that's the connection?

[ she's kidding. probably. ]

...And people can die from both if it's bad...?

[she's trying.]

[serrata]

I can't imagine how awful someone's miso soup would have to be for someone to actually die... and I don't really want to try and work it out either.

[ RULE 7..... ]

...But it was good, anyway.

Then that probably means better prospects for any politics he might get into.

[ uproarious studio audience laughter in the distance ]

It's strange. Everyone being from different worlds and times.

[serrata]

It is, isn't it?

[ She finally picks a slice of chocolate cake for herself but she doesn't take a bite just yet -- she just sort of picks at it with a fork. ]

It makes me wonder what the point is. It has to be so much harder to go into so many different places than it is to just... bring people from the same place to begin with.

And picking people who would be missed. Like you.

[serrata]

[ blink. ]

Like me?

[ well, obviously, if she were gone, Yuki and Kurumi would miss her, but... ]

Your friends must like you a great deal.

[serrata]

Doesn't everyone's?

[ No, she's not being facetious -- it's a genuine question. ]

Probably. But you're responsible. You get along with people.

[serrata]

... I just do my best. If something needs to be done then there's no point in not getting it done.

You're getting along with everyone fine, aren't you...?

[ NOW SHE'S WORRIED... ]
