Week 1

[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.

Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.

That hardly matters to me. Technically speaking, I already am a criminal.

[He certainly gets chased enough by the police to qualify.]

My trade? Ah, do you mean what sort of crimes I get up to?

I lead a revolution. It's hard to do that without breaking the law.

[Weirdly, that prompts a chuckle.]

You know, there's more and more of you every time I turn around. I've got a friend I bet you'd get along with.

[Too bad she isn't here.]

So what's your "cause"? Can't be a rebel without one, right?

[myocordial]

A fellow rebellious spirit? That does sound like an intriguing person.

[He has a soft spot for rebels.]

It certainly wouldn't make one a very good rebel, no. My cause would be my friends. Ah, my species, I should say.

I'm trying to create a better world for us, when currently we have nothing.

[He doesn't mean to be speciesist, but for fuck's sake.]

Roidmude. [He doesn't sound offended, just slightly amused.] You're likely more familiar with the term robot. It's close enough to what we are.

[He sees how that lands, then adds:] I'm bilingual. Point of pride.

Ha... A valiant effort.

It's not the most straightforward name, I know. But then, I didn't choose it.

Most of us don't. Though I gotta ask--your first name? Is that seriously what it is?

My name is Heart, yes. My first name and only name. Well, unless one were to count my number, but hardly anyone uses that these days.

Ah. Well. I guess I'd pick "Heart" over a number for a name, too, though neither would be my ideal...

It's very different than a human name, but then I am very different from humans.

Roidmude names tend to be very... direct. Heart. Brain. Medic. Volt. Freeze. Our names are very directly tied to who we are.

...They kind of sound like codenames. A reason behind each one, right?

[myocordial]

Codenames... Yes, that would be a good comparison.

Our names are about something we are or... something we excel at. So we don't actually take on names until we find what that is and evolve.

[misanthropicprinciple]

So you excel at 'Heart,' huh. Guess that's why they've got you down as the Champion of Compassion.

[myocordial]

Ha, well... The champion title is a bit much, but I do care for my friends a great deal. So that is what I excel at I suppose, yes.

I do have to wonder what the purpose of the titles is.

I don't even know what mine means.

[myocordial]

Right, you were the... [He checks his PIP briefly.] Champion Challenger.

...That is on the vague side. You really have no idea?

[misanthropicprinciple]

[He huffs uncomfortably.]

I have an idea, but... like you said, it's pretty vague.

[myocordial]

Perhaps it's something you can ask about later. If there's an opportunity for it.

Still, if you have some idea, I imagine it must be the right one. It seems strange to give someone a title they don't understand at all.

It might... have to do with the enneagram personality types. Have you heard of those?

[myocordial]

I don't believe I have, no.

[misanthropicprinciple]

It's another one of those pseudo-psychological personality sorters that high schoolers like. I don't know much about it, but I think... Challenger is one of the nine types.
