Week 1

[After being introduced to their Counselor, the inmates are left to their own devices to explore the open areas of the ship as they please. The counselor's office hours are available if any of the inmates wish to speak to him privately and, throughout the week, the cook and the janitor can be found here and there.

Each morning the inmates are awakened by Dr. Price's voice over the intercoms located in each cell announcing the time as 7 am. Breakfast is served each morning in the mess hall from 7 am to 8 am, lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..

Oh, I like cooking, too! Except... uh, Sakunosuke showed me how to use the stove top, but I'm still a little intimidated by all the stuff in the kitchen.

I don't mind at all. Really. [ He's trying his best to sound rather reassuring, in fact. ] It's not that big of a deal to begin with. Normal things are nice, after all.

Yeah, I figure we're all kinda wanting a touch of normalcy, all things considered. ...Kinda have to wonder about the ingredients we're gonna be working with, though...

...I was kind of afraid of that, honestly.

Well, it's not all strange, at least. I mean... It's just the things I've been having trouble with figuring out.

Yeah, I guess what you mean. With food, it's a lot easier if it's familiar, you know? I did ask the cook if he could maybe show me how to make some stuff, though, so that might help.

He actually agreed to that? That would definitely be nice to know what kinds of recipes he knows. We could even trade.

That's what I was thinking! It might be just a little hard to trade recipes if we don't have food from home, but we could adapt, maybe?

Well, we can still give him the recipe list. And adapting shouldn't be too difficult.

Right, definitely. I mean, I mostly know stews, and you can do basically anything with stews.

I could help out too, if you wanted to do any baking. It doesn't look like things are too different from what I'm used to...

Oh, swell! I don't do much baking, just cooking, so it'll be nice to learn something new.

I don't know what's all here, but we could always get started with something simple. I've never been good at anything really fancy, anyway.

Yeah, I'm not big on fancy stuff myself. As long as it tastes good, it's fine, right?

Had some trouble figuring out what some of the ingredients even were, but Fourtinbras seems like a nice enough guy. Long as you don't act like a jerk around him, he should be willing to help you out on that front.

Yeah, definitely. I'm glad we've got someone like him working here, even if I don't know what's going on with anything else.

...have you talked to the janitor guy?

[She knows Scraggly's around, but she hasn't really had a proper conversation with him yet.]

...I think I might usually be in bed by the time he's around.

[She's usually a night owl, so there's the possibility that she might run into him. But still.]

He's a little hard to track, actually...

Really? That's kind of a shame, although I guess it kind of makes sense for a guy who's supposed to be behind the scenes. I think.

He probably keeps weird hours, too. Guess you probably have to if you've got his job.

Yeah, probably. I mean, I've never really heard of someone you pay to just... clean stuff before, but...
