Week 1

[After being introduced to their Counselor, the inmates are left to their own devices to explore the open areas of the ship as they please. The counselor's office hours are available if any of the inmates wish to speak to him privately and, throughout the week, the cook and the janitor can be found here and there.

Each morning the inmates are awakened by Dr. Price's voice over the intercoms located in each cell announcing the time as 7 am. Breakfast is served each morning in the mess hall from 7 am to 8 am, lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..

[aw, look. the roomies are meeting in the bathroom. kinda like when girls only migrate to the bathroom in groups, but with less whatever it is girls do in the bathroom when they migrate there in groups.]

[ cute. roomies who go to the bathroom together stay together. ]

More like the guys who brought us here decided to give me one without asking.

[ man but this is just not working out? he's making it look even worse. ]

[empathiser]

[that could be incredibly ominous.]

You're wearing a bright orange unitard.

[So are you, Will.]

I wouldn't worry so much about your hair.

[chides]

And what else am I supposed to be wearing?

[ he's not going to go around in just his underwear ok ]

This? [ he points to his hair. ] I can fix. I think.

[empathiser]

You could probably fix the bright orange situation if you were feeling inspired enough.

[There's paper. They could always papier-mâché a suit.

It looks fine as it is.

[chides]

Maybe you should try and fix yours, since you seem to have a problem with it.

he sighs, though. yeah...it looked...passable earlier? this isn't working out. he's going to just move the loose strands of hair back to how they were before. ]

Alright, alright. I'll leave it alone.

[empathiser]

I'm not the one squinting in a bathroom mirror.

[And to be fair... he hasn't actually looked in the mirror since entering the bathroom, so untwist your unitard Mako.]

How did it look before? [If this is such a big change? Did he have long Rapunzel hair or something?]

[chides]

That's because of my hair! Not my--[ SIGHS ] just. Never mind. Gel would be nice.

It was kind of swooped to the side. I dunno, I thought it looked dumb. It's not a big deal. [ ... ] What is a big deal is that I look...older. Older than I last remember.

[empathiser]

[It's okay, Will gets it. Mako just wants to be pretty.]

Even if I'd ever owned hair gel, they'd have taken it off me when they brought me here.

[Okay, but now he's squinting thoughtfully.]

Older... [He hasn't really thought about it. Does he look any different? He's almost wary of looking.

Appearance not matching with age is only going to add credence to that theory they might have forgotten a bunch of memories that had happened after what they last remembered, and. Well. Anything goes, if that's the case.]

[chides]

[ mako is a pretty boy. ]

...Yeah. Older. I feel different, too.

[ he feels...stronger? maybe a little more muscular. and it's not a bad thing, but how? how did he get to be this way? if the memory loss is true, then... ]

It's like there's a three-year gap in my memories. I don't know, none of this makes any sense.

[empathiser]

[you keep that strong sense of self-confidence, mako.]

[he's trying to think about it. really think about it. does he feel older than he felt before everything that had happened in Hannibal's home? he... can't really say. He's done with all his major life changes, so there's nothing huge to use as in indicator.]

It's not impossible, manipulating memories. But it's not my speciality so I don't know if there hiding away three years of memories is possible.

[But it's not impossible...]

What do you mean? How would you manipulate someone's memories?

[ not like mako would ever be able to change someone's memories but he'd at least like to know the methods behind it. it'll at least be relevant to their situation. ]

[empathiser]

It's not a field I work in. [but he's been on the receiving end of both memory repression without knowing it, and attempts to recover those suppressed memories via similar techniques.]

But some psychiatrists work with repressed memory therapy, and use techniques to help patients recover memories they might have repressed. The legitimacy of it is pretty hotly debated, but some doctors do still use it.

[He raises a hand, and gestures from side to side.]

And if you can recover memories, you can knowingly repress them or mess with them. It goes both ways.

...You're a profiler. [ right. he remembers that from reading will's profile (haha). ] So you have experience with solving crimes, catching criminals...all that, right?

[ it'll help to have as many experienced people as they can actively investigating their situation. he's glad he's not the only one who works in that field. ]

Do you think that's what happened to us?

[empathiser]

A little. I helped out, and it ended up taking over my old job before I knew it.

[He frowns, thoughtfully.]

It could be. There's no proof, but this many people with memory gaps is a bit too much to be coincidental.

[chides]

What was your old job?

Yeah, this was definitely intentional. I don't think it's a coincidence at all. I just...I just wish I knew what they did to us while we were unconscious.

[empathiser]

Lecturing at an academy for FBI agents-in-training.

[It feels like a very long time ago.]

We may end up remembering anyway. You can't guarantee a memory will stay suppressed - anything and everything could bring them back up to the surface again.

[chides]

...FBI?

[ what is this lingo ]

But...why would they do that? We're more at their mercy if we don't remember, and I'm pretty sure that's what they want.

[empathiser]

Federal Bureau of Investigations.

[you're a smart kid, mako, you can guess what they do.]

Can't say. The remembering process isn't the most enjoyable, so maybe the disorientation and trauma is entertaining for whoever planned this.

[chides]

Oh. Yeah, that makes sense.

I really hope that's not the case. I'd rather them have some other agenda than this all just being some sick form of entertainment.

[empathiser]

I'm not saying that's the only reason they brought us here and possibly messed with our memories for, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of it.
