Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

[Kurumi is helping out a little in the library. Seeing Chitanda so focused on the books makes her feel a little mischevious so she sneaks up on her and... Places her hands on the back of her neck.

U-uwaaaah!

[ They're cold enough to make poor Chitanda's hair stand up on end! She turns right around, in a flustered heap, shivering to the bone; that was so scary! ]

K-K-Kurumi-san! Y-you startled me...

[ More than that, clearly-- ]

[She snickers at the reaction but smiles warmly.]

Sorry, sorry. I couldn't help myself, y'know?

More importantly, why are your hands so cold?! We should get you some warm tea right away! You must be freezing...

I've got bad circulation, my hands are always cold.

[kininaru]

Bad circulation..?

[ That doesn't sound fun...and she's certain these clothes aren't helping. If only they had some comfy mittens... ]

...W-well! They do say that if you have cold hands, it means you have a warm heart!

Yeah.

[She gives a small laugh. ...Well, she normally wears gloves so there's that.]

Do they? Never heard that before.

It's true! I'm not sure if there's any biological basis for that, of course, but, I think in your case, it probably would be accurate...

...Even if you are a bit of a prankster!

Blame Yuki for that. She pulls all sorts of things like that back home. Guess she rubbed off on me.

She certainly seems lively, then...in comparison, my friends are a bit...

Well, actually, I shouldn't say that. Mayaka-chan is a bit on the blunt side, but, she's quite feisty, for sure! Really, it's just Oreki-san who's the problem. He's so listless! I'm trying to rub off on him a bit, but...

She keeps everyone on their toes, that's for sure. Rii-san's the one who can handle her the best. She's basically her big sis even if they're the same age. Miki, too.

You'd never think that Miki's actually the youngest out of the four of us. She's one of those serious types. God...I was so surprised when she said she was a second year.

The way you talk, it sounds almost like you're a family...I'm a little jealous, honestly. I've never had siblings or anything like that...

I didn't either until the School Living Club, I guess. The four of us are pretty close.

[kininaru]

Ah, there are four of us in the Classics Club, as well! We're all good friends, but...I feel like the bond between you all is a bit different, judging from the way you talk about them.

[Kurumi rubbed the back of her neck almost nervously.]

I think there's a reason for that. D'you mind if we sit down for a bit? It's kind of a long story and I don't know if you'll believe it.

[The others had but well. Who knew.]

Kurumi-san, we're in the middle of either a floating space station or some kind of virtual reality situation, depending on who you're asking. There isn't much I won't believe, at this point.

Well. What do you think a 'School Living Club' does?

[kininaru]

Um...let's see...probably domestic stuff, am I right? Things like cooking and cleaning, sewing, maintaining good health, learning how to manage your resources...that sort of thing, maybe?

There's certainly those aspects to it. Rii-san--she's our prez--always keeps a check of our supplies. We were living in the school building for a while after the zombies came.

[kininaru]

...T-the what, now?

[ She heard her just fine, of course; it's not for lack of misunderstanding. But, she...wasn't prepared for that. ]

K-Kurumi-san, it's not that I don't believe you, but...

Zombies. It... yeah. It's hard to swallow, like I said.

[kininaru]

[ ...Okay, she's curious, she's gotta know-- ]

So your world really has zombies everywhere?

[tasteslikesurvival]

I can't say for certain but we haven't had much contact with people outside of a few miles away from the school. Rii-san, Yuki, and I were at the school when it happened. It was after school but I had practice, Yuki was doing extra lessons with a teacher, and Rii-san was doing gardening club work. We thought it was just the three of us for the longest time until we found Miki at the mall.

[She takes a deep breath and shakes her head.]

The internet's down and we couldn't pick up a radio signal. I can't tell you what's happening outside of our city.

[kininaru]

S-so it's just the three of you, using the school as a safe haven in a world full of zombies...

[ That's...that's so rough, Kurumi-san, she has a truckload more respect for you now-- ]

And you can't even call for help...

Well, four of us now...we've left the school, though.

[Don't ask why. You don't want to know.]

It's...not so bad once you get used to it.
