week 1
[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.
On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]
Showers
Oh! Hello there...Thomasin, right?
[So kiddo if you want to know how the shower, and furthermore how the bathroom works, now's the perfect time to ask.]

[ Introductions before she asks how basic hygiene works! They're not animals. ]

[On the inside she's chiding herself for letting herself get too comfortable with that PIP information. She hates it being there, too! Ugh.]

Knew I my letters, I'd be the same. [ She smiles (well, her face relaxes, which is about as much as she can muster right now.) ] But I confess, near all I see here is new to mine eyes. How do you fare, Jane?
no subject
I'm...well, thank you. How about you? Is there anything you're still having trouble getting used to?
no subject
[ She casts her glance upward to shoot a dubious look at the showerhead. ]
I wondered at the use of this room. [ Can she risk a guess without looking like an idiot bumpkin... probably not but she'll do it anyway. ] Is it for washing?
[ Honestly, she's thinking of clothes, but let's just let her have this one. ]
no subject
It is. You, ah, turn it on, and step underneath - without your clothes, of course - and you wash your hair and body. I do believe there's plenty of shampoo and soap to do so, and towels to dry off with...though you'd usually find this sort of setup for a gymnasium than a house.

And not catch cold? I suppose if it were not oft...

[ Thomasin hesitates. It all seems so simple, and Jane certainly knows better than she, but... is she going to ask? She has to ask. She needs to know. ]
What of the natural coating that protects us? Does it, ah, not strip away the oils?
no subject
[Are we referring to skin here]
no subject
[ She's literally talking about dirt. Please help her. ]
Mother saith to wash them away leaves us defenseless to miasma and pestilence.
no subject
Well...you do wash that stuff away, but that's also to keep yourself from getting sick. You'll be fine if you do it regularly, I promise.

[ But she tugs at a wisp of hair that's escaped the neat lattice of her braids, and maybe she can see her point. ]
We did wash our faces and our arms ofttimes, but... [ she must be super gross ] I must get to it, then.

Ah...it's not a problem. Don't worry about it, okay? I...am a little narrow-minded sometimes, I'll admit, but I'm not so much that I couldn't imagine that this sort of place is difficult for you to adjust to.

[ But she's never known so many people, with so little reason and no godly religion, to help her and be kind to her, to speak and listen to her at all. She can't say that. ]
I take comfort in these kindnesses.
[ She's already gone over to the towels and is testing their size for the purpose of modesty. One isn't quite enough, but two should be okay! ]
I pray it may be the same for others here. [ Apparently satisfied, she takes the towels and goes to hang them up. Thank god there's a curtain. She's not too shy of unrelated female nudity, but zero nudity is the ideal. ] And I am ever grateful of your help.
[ And now she's going to find out what shampoo is! ]

[She's going to pick a towel for herself and jump into a stall, too. Shower time, yay!]
