The five of cups signifies...loss and regret. It represents a person stuck in the past and having difficulty letting go of such sentiments. [He quickly turned the page, scanning at light speed for anything remotely positive, mother of Shiva please.]

Ah, here we are--the card also means that despite having lost a great deal, some measure of hope remains; two of the cups still remain standing. Recovery is mentioned as being a vital part of the process, even should there seem to be no way out of such a predicament.
