[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

Are you familiar with chemistry at all? Cooking and baking are chemistry for hungry people. Sometimes you can't rush or shortcut chemistry without the whole thing blowing up in your face. Just because a collapsing cake won't kill anybody doesn't mean it's a desirable result.

Yeah, my dad taught me most of what I know about cooking, and the bread's one of his favorite recipes. He smells like rosemary all the time, just like I do.

Those robots. You're good at getting out of their way if you have to and it sounds like you've got a good eye for this sort of thing. Do you think you'd be able to keep an eye on them and tell me what they get up to at night?

It doesn't have to be very often -- and it doesn't have to be for the whole night, either. I just want us to get a better idea of what they're doing when the rest of us are in bed.

Hence the expression "nothing worthwhile is ever easy." Though cooking does get easier with practice. But yeah, you can't rush, unless you want stuff to be burned or undercooked.

[ Yuuri just nods. It's all she's able to do with her throat as tight as it is. She's blinking rapidly, trying to clear her eyes of tears before they can roll down her cheeks. It's not exactly working. ]

I'm not so sure about that! Nothing against anybody here, of course. And I'd be very happy for anyone who did decide they were going down that sort of route, but for me...

Well. I can't really see anything blooming for me quite yet.

I would love to wear something Victorian one day, except with a soft corset. Hard ones are a little much for me.

[ She just shakes her head. The smile she's wearing is... not flat, exactly, but it's very Business Polite. Like the kind of smile you give a coworker when they ask you how you're doing on the worst day of your life and you aren't quite ready to just spill your guts. ]

There really isn't anything to vent about. I talked a little with Ardyn-san and with everything Fukawa-chan set up this morning, I thought it was time for me to start putting in a bit of effort, too.

Like I said. I'll be fine. It's not like I really have much of a choice otherwise, is it?

Yes and no. We don't have a choice in this situation, but how we handle it? Yeah, we have a choice. I told you guys my secret because hiding it would've made things worse when it finally came out because of Xander's time limit. It's up to all of you to decide how much you want to trust me, though.

So don't forget that we need to stick together, okay? Even if you're bothered by me, find someone you trust enough to handle it when you need to crumble.

[ There's something vile and perverse about that Yuuri can't articulate. It's one thing to not be allowed to die, and then to have someone try anyway and then throw him aside. But to have his own brother do it and then for that man to live a lie for the rest of his life, to be buried or cremated or whatever Ardyn's kingdom did with their dead under the name of Ardyn Lucis Caelum.

There would be a family, children, a wife who would think the man they loved was Ardyn Lucis Caelum and they'd never have any reason to call him a liar. ]

That's disgusting.

[ Her voice is low and fierce. ]

After all you'd done for them and he just threw you away like trash. How did he even live with himself?

Yeah. My best friend was terrified of me when I started to change, because she's only human. This is something you can only understand if you've been there yourself. Centuries of memories, inhuman power, endless hate... a human body and brain weren't meant to have any of it. It's a miracle you and I can hold on this well through it all. But we're doing what we can, even if we slip sometimes.
