first trial

[With the announcement, the Champions are free to decide amongst themselves what order the groups leave in. Once that's done the process of teleporting is automatic and happens in the blink of an eye. Once second they're in the center of the cafeteria before a soft blue light surrounds them and then they're standing in the middle of a circle of podiums.

The room itself it the same shiny, chrome-covered atrocity as most of the rest of the ship save for the sections of floor that aren't the teleporter: those are thick clear glass that show nothing but empty space and stars beneath the Champions' feet. As for the podiums they're the same sort of garish chrome with a digital screen facing toward the center of the circle. The screens each have a name and title associated with a Champion written in green block letters, all save for Chloe Price, the Champion of Max Caulfield, Miki Naoki, the Champion Support and Chitose Karasuma, the Champion of Mediocrity. Theirs are a striking red and, floating above their podiums, are greyscale portraits framed in some kind of bold, mechanical-looking frame.

The Overseers are waiting when they all arrive, standing on a floating platform just high enough to be out of reach and back far enough toward a far wall to have a full view of the courtroom. Both are dressed well, Rox in a pressed grey dress jacket and skirt and Blaze in a black suit with the sleeves rolled up to expose his numerous tattoos.Rox is again the one who speaks up.]

Welcome, Champions, to the courtroom! Twenty of you have entered, but - in the best case scenario - only nineteen of you will leave. The goal here is to compile the evidence that you've gathered and figure out who the killer is. Once you think you have an answer, we'll call a vote where you'll use the podium in front of you to vote on the title of the Champion who you all agree has broken the peace. If you're correct, the culprit will be executed and the rest of you will be allowed to go back upstairs. If you're wrong, however, the killer goes free and the rest of you take the punishment in their place.

There's no time limit, but we reserve the right to call for a vote if things drag on too long. Now let the first trial begin!

I wonder if someone was doing something they would not want to be seen by the Overseers. Why else destroy a camera?
andjerry: (dammit you ran right into it)

[personal profile] andjerry 2017-10-28 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
But that's destroying property, and... I don't think anyone here wanted to end up like Chloe. It's the most obvious answer, but...

Maybe they asked permission? Never mind, that sounds crazy.
karappo: (you can jump from the roof to the pool)

[personal profile] karappo 2017-10-28 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Non non, it is not crazy...to be honest, though, if they had already killed someone, or intended to? I do not think they were considering the repercussions of destroying property.

It is very possible the Overseers saw what was going on anyway and let it go on. They want us killing each other.
andjerry: (but i am pretty good)

[personal profile] andjerry 2017-10-28 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true. Maybe they thought we'd be able to look at "security footage". That catches a lot of people for smaller crimes, why not a murder?
karappo: (going on a mission to find my pants)

[personal profile] karappo 2017-10-28 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It is very possible. They probably were in a panic, not thinking...trying to cover their tracks in any way possible.

That is, assuming it did not get smashed during a struggle. And I think it was mentioned it was a bit too high up for that to have happened.
andjerry: (now you found the key!)

[personal profile] andjerry 2017-10-28 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And if it was Miki... maybe she was trying to do something secret. The bathrooms don't have cameras, but I don't think most people want to do much in there.
batfortheprincess: (♦ is there no other choice?)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-28 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But it seems like an odd thing to do, considering we saw what rule-breaking entailed. Unless the consequences are different depending on the rule, or they were sure the rules wouldn't apply to them...?

[He's not really sure where he's going with this...]
theundertaken: (going)

[personal profile] theundertaken 2017-10-28 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they just weren't thinking about it? They could've been pissed - at the Overseers or Miki or all of this shit.
titularly: ([rips off bib] this date is over.)

[personal profile] titularly 2017-10-28 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
....couldn't they have just done that in the bathrooms then? Why'd they have to do it in the storage room?

[personal profile] lovecolored 2017-10-28 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Is there anythin' useful in the storage room? The food, the first aid kits...I don't see how any'a that would help someone commit a murder, unless they wanted to use somethin' out of the first aid kit, but that's a stretch.
titularly: (and im too lazy to look any up rn)

[personal profile] titularly 2017-10-28 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the purple stuff was in there so maybe it came from.. something in the storage room. I dunno what, though.

[Man this is too much thinking for Osomatsu's small, small brain.]

Man.. I'd suggest that maybe they got hurt and went to get bandages or something but no one is really injured enough for this kinda thing, right?
batfortheprincess: (♦ i don't mean to speak out of turn...)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-28 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... it didn't appear as if anything was missing from the storage room either.
titularly: (3. if you do)

[personal profile] titularly 2017-10-28 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. I'm all out of ideas then.
