week 7

[For the first time in several weeks there is no new memorial in the garden. No new body in the morgue, no bloody mess for the roombas to clean. Choromatsu is still in need of time to heal and constant vigilance but he's alive. They're all alive for once on a Sunday and, even with the terrible realizations their returning memories may bring, there's a sense of hope for the first time in a long time.

There is no new floor this week.

[Knock knock, bitches, Church is here to visit the little green shitshow. He even brought one of his regains with him, the fruit and nut basket, because he...wanted to bring something nice? It's kind of a 'get well soon' gift, right?]

[Don't mind him he's just gonna. Lean over here and watch for a minute, trying to figure out what the hell he could possibly be looking for.

Then he's gonna wolf whistle.]

[As soon as morning's announced, Junpei's nervously approaching the kitchen, looking like he got a lot less sleep than he needs. He glances around the kitchen like he thinks something in here's going to eat him, but when nothing does, he just swallows, rubs the back of his head, and exits without getting anything to eat.

Much later in the day (though very definitely during the day), when he thinks the food rush is most likely to have abated and the kitchen will be empty, he returns to the kitchen with. Er. Some sticky tape from the storage room, a piece of paper, and... four of those glow-in-the-dark ping pong balls?

Like a kid, he clambers onto the counter and tapes that shit to the ceiling, one ping pong ball at each corner of the page. No one ever looks up, you know? And the glow of the balls would only get anyone's attention if they fucking locked themselves in the kitchen at night.

And of course no one would ever be that dumb.

Late afternoon sees him feeling a bit better as he drops by Cece's room for a much-belated friend date. Knock knock knock. He's got his swim trunks on with his hoodie and some water balloons in a bucket from the kitchen.]

Hey, Cee. You've got two options: two-person pool party, or water balloon fight in the garden. The choice is yours.

[The first dart makes him jump. The second one makes him let out an unmanly noise. At the third one he's leaving the garden...

...and coming back with his sniper rifle at the ready, squinting through the sights while stalking the garden. Ready to fire back.]

This is the part where I want to make a joke about other ways to warm you up, except you'd probably ruin my fun by pointing out that you literally can't increase your core body temperature.

That's exactly what I would say, well done. I'm almost impressed.

[He feels kind of bad. A little bit. Deep down where he doesn't want to show it. That they'd had that argument and hadn't seen eye to eye, hadn't gotten on. When he finds her at the memorials, of course, but doing her nun thing, he keeps back out of respect, not to startle her. But stays just where he is. Also out of respect. It's not his religion, and he's not even a remotely good Jew, but instead of being angry about it, for once, he's choosing to respect the idea behind it.

It's a good thing she's doing. A kind thing. And he can actually appreciate it.]

The garden is good

[ When she finishes, she'll turn around and spot him, jump a little, then smile a bit. ]

Isn't this at least more entertaining than just, I don't know, staring at the ceiling or watching me sleep or whatever the hell you do in the middle of the night?
