Week 4

[Four weeks in and almost half the Champions' original numbers are gone. Eight people in the span of a month and, even with the Overseers seeming increase in empathy for the remaining Champions, there is no end in sight for the Champion Excellence Program.

And again at 7 am on Sunday the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call the message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your third trial, you have unlocked the fourth floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the fourth floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: welcome to week 4, everyone! Check-in has begun and don't forget to submit your memory regains!]

[ She's been sitting on that fruit basket they gave her for a good week now, too perturbed by the apples to touch it, so when she brings it out with her to the kitchen they're not exactly the kind of fresh you'd want to sink your teeth into! For cooking, however, it works out just fine. She takes a paring knife and starts slicing them up, not really knowing what she's going to do with them when she's done. The oranges and grapefruit stay on the counter, and she'll offer them to all comers. She also has no idea what a grapefruit is. This orange is weird as hell. ]

Have we found any meal at all?

[ Grains. She means grains. ]

You mean, like... cornmeal?

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-07 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Or anything else like a flour. I know Jane somehow contrived to make a cake...

[ Which was flourless. ]
ratherdoweddings: (is barely making sense)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-08 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's right, she was talking about flourless cake, wasn't she? I think that's a big trend in her time, but I might have my years mixed up. I haven't seen any flour around, though.

Nor I... she must have made last Monday's without it. Yet they must have it somewhere, else the diner should have no bread. I wonder if we might ask it of the Overseers.
ratherdoweddings: ('cause we can beat anything)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-09 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, or if we'll get it out of the dumbwaiter! I've gotten other food out of it, after all!

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-09 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Really? 'Twas from there this fruit came, but never anything else.

[ She absolutely did try licking the lip balm, but you know what, some things you keep to yourself. ]

What kinds?
ratherdoweddings: (and humans shouldn't)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-09 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly candy, but once, I got a bunch of cheese. At least it was all good!
curdle: (pic#11092386)

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-09 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hmm. ]

The fruit they must get from the garden, and the rest should keep well enough, but cheese?

[ IS THERE A COW ON THIS SHIP ]
ratherdoweddings: (themes in anime)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-09 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
They must have a really good supply line. Maybe they use the teleporters to get things from the nearest planet!
curdle: (Default)

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-09 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
They can do such things?

[ Yurika would know! ]

Was your ship that way?
ratherdoweddings: (there's usually lots to learn)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-10 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
No, we didn't have that kind of technology for the most part, and when we did, we hadn't worked it all out. Also, I think the Jovian Lizards were trying to get the research from us? But we had a lot of storage space, and refrigerators. I wish we'd developed teleporters as convenient as the ones on this station.

Perchance you'll be able to bring back knowledge of these ones, when we escape.

I wish there were something. 'Twould be nice to make a pie like those in the diner. Maybe they will bake without, if I can find butter...
ratherdoweddings: (themes in anime)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-12 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder if that's one of the things they send up the dumbwaiter? I've never gotten any.

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-14 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nor I... but in the diner they sometimes place a goodly amount beside a plate. [ She's thinking about the pancakes! ] More ever than I should have needed. If one asked for enough, and kept of it, we might store it in the dairy for later.

[ This is what she calls the milk fridge. ]
ratherdoweddings: (themes in anime)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-15 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
You mean order pancakes and waffles, then make other things out of them? Jane-chan was thinking she could try something similar, too.
curdle: (pic#10392668)

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-16 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, with the butter. The rest serves for bread well enough on its own -- the pancakes, anyway --and I know not how else we might put them to use.

[ She has no idea what a waffle is! ]

If we do it together, 'twill go faster.
ratherdoweddings: ('cause we can beat anything)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-16 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'll bet Jane-chan knows everything! She is all about baking, after all.
curdle: (who deda)

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-17 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
More than I, for certain. Most oft it was Mother worked the bread-oven.
ratherdoweddings: (and if you're chasing a dream)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-18 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose using an oven like the ones here must be really different from what you had, too.

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-19 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ She nods quietly, opening a cabinet to look for literally any sad excuse for spices they might have in here. ]

'Twas outside, for one thing. There was certainly naught like this [ she's pointing... at the stove... ] atop it. But all is so new here that this is less of a trial.
ratherdoweddings: (if you're determined enough)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-19 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
You're adapting really well, Thomasin-chan. I'd probably be totally lost! I still am with some of the things from the past.
curdle: (pic#10964563)

[personal profile] curdle 2017-03-21 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye? How far past?

[ can she help?? she is 98.9% sure the answer is no ]
ratherdoweddings: (we can beat anything)

[personal profile] ratherdoweddings 2017-03-22 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Only about a hundred or two hundred years, so it's probably a little past your time. At least it was pretty easy to learn to work the DVD player!
