Week 4

[Four weeks in and almost half the Champions' original numbers are gone. Eight people in the span of a month and, even with the Overseers seeming increase in empathy for the remaining Champions, there is no end in sight for the Champion Excellence Program.

And again at 7 am on Sunday the mechanical woman's voice chimes to awaken the remaining champions on Sunday morning. After the initial wake-up call the message tacked on:]

Congratulations, Champions! By surviving your third trial, you have unlocked the fourth floor of the ship. A new mini map has been added to your P.I.P.! To access the fourth floor please stand on the teleporter and select the floor you wish to be teleported to.

[And again the Champions are awakened they have regained one new memory from the ones they've lost. Starting again on Sunday, as well, Jamie and Bolton will be back to their usual office hours in their usual locations.]

Wow, it's so cute! I've been thinking of doing something like that, too!

Ah, thank you Miss Yurika! I felt that this could use a bit of brightening up.

[And she doesn't care if someone cleans it off tomorrow, she has enough paint to keep doing it over and over if need be. Also, what better way to send a message than by pretending it's not a message?]

I...I'm feeling much better, too, so that...makes it a bit easier to do something cheerful.

Right! I'm so glad we can spruce this place up. Maybe we'll all feel much better afterwards. It definitely won't feel so haunted.

Not haunted or desolate at all! I'll be honest, the chrome has been wearing me out.

[Brush brush, brush brush. Add a little more blueish purple to the Yurika on the door...]

I might not mind it, but it's still a little repetitive, and now that people have been dying in here, it's way too sad. Hmm, what design should I do...

Mm...I can't really suggest anything in particular.

[She says as she touches up the red flower.]

I suppose you should paint whatever makes you happy...or something you feel is important to remember.

Hmm... You know what? You're right! I've got just the thing, Jane-chan, it'll be great! Thanks a bunch~ I'll do something that's the best symbol of home I can think of!

[She looks a bit surprised. Honestly, girl, just paint whatever you like, Jane knows she's taking a risk here.]

Will you, er, show me when you're done?

Absolutely! My door's right by the showers anyway, you'll all get to see it.

Oh, good! Then we'll be...brightened up by its cheerfulness, I suppose!

You know, just for that, there's going to be a big yellow sun, too! Beaming down onto a mountain covered in flowers! Pink ones!

[Don't forget a red one, Yurika.]

That sounds lovely! Oh, I wish we could be on a mountain like that for real...

I'd settle for here without murder, but I really miss home.

Mm, I'd want us to be removed from this place altogether. There's a lot of sadness here. But hopefully, this effort will lessen that.

[Because painting murals obviously keeps murder from happening.]

Hey, doing one thing doesn't mean we've given up on the other!

I know that - but it doesn't change what I really want.

I have faith you'll get your wish, Jane-chan. Someday, you won't have to be here anymore. No one will!

[There's a pause. Jane goes back to the paints, picking up some silvery grey for the robot rabbit.]

And hopefully no one will ever come here again. Even if they use this place for something good, I...can't think of somebody living here or anything.

It would be hard to know. ...What's the rabbit?

Oh - um, that's Lil' Sebastian. He's a robot.

[Uh what]

Oh! Like your pet? Did you build him?

He's more like a little guardian - and no, I didn't build him. My friend Dirk did, for my protection.

[As much as they've got between them in love troubles, Dirk's an alright guy.]

Oh, a bodyguard! I guess because you're an important heiress.

It's more because he's a worrywart if he can't handle something with his own two hands. He's...got a thing about control when it comes to...a lot of things, so he kind of...expresses that he cares through pulling strings. It's pretty weird, but it's who he is.

[I mean you spend five months with three people in a confined reality and you get to know them somewhat]

The way you say that casually is a little concerning.
